Program Requirements

Mitchell’s Academy offers two main programs:  Cosmetology and Esthetics. Policies regarding academic expectations and satisfactory performance are given to each student during orientation.

Cosmetology

In this 1500 clock hour program, you will acquire a thorough knowledge of hairstyling, cutting, shaping, coloring, including balayage, ombre and other coloring techniques, permanent waving, and facial treatments. The program will also cover salon management, appointment scheduling, and the laws and guidelines of North Carolina that relate to the salon business. As you demonstrate proficiency in your practical skills you will move on to the advanced level.  This is where our students continue to practice their skills on mannequins, other students, as well as clients.

The entire program of 1500 hours is designed to prepare students for the state licensing exam, which is required by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners in order to be employed as a cosmetologist in NC.

Esthetics

In this 600 clock hour program, you will acquire a thorough knowledge of skin structure, skin analysis, waxing, make-up application, basic facials and skincare.  As you demonstrate proficiency and knowledge in these areas students move on to more advanced techniques.  Some of these include oxygen-infusion facials, LED light therapy, back treatments, hair removal, microdermabrasion (including diamond-tip, crystals, and organics), dermaplaning, and Nano-infusion.

The Esthetics program is designed to prepare the student for the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners licensing exam and prepare you to become a professional in the field of esthetics.
